Acting in his role as the city liquor commissioner, Mayor Jim Langfelder has suspended the liquor license of Wet Bar, located at 221 S 5th Street in downtown Springfield pending a hearing.

A 32-year-old man was fatally shot outside the bar in early August and is just one of many issues with the location. A Facebook post from the owner of Wet Bar, Yatti Etly, said the bar was ordered closed due to COVID violations.

Etly stated that a hearing would be held on September 17, and the bar is ordered closed until then. A hearing could potentially fully revoke the establishment's liquor license.
