You can cast your vote early starting today in Illinois. To cast your vote in-person, go to Room 101 of the Sangamon County Complex located at 200 N 9th Street from 8:30 am to 5pm. Starting on October 19, the hours will be extended to 7 pm. For those needing to vote on the weekend, early voting hours are 9 am to noon October 10 and 17 and 9 am to 5 pm on October 31 and November 1
For those voting by mail, it is recommended that you mail in your ballot as soon as possible and will require $1.40 in postage to mail it. USPS suggests you mail your ballot no later than October 27. However, by law, your ballot is valid if it is postmarked by November 3 and received by the election office no later than November 17.
Drop boxes for mail-in ballots are also being placed in two locations, according to Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray, by the County Complex on Monroe Street and at the county’s Juvenile Detention Center on Dirksen Parkway. The boxes are available through 7pm November 3.
If you need to register, you may do so up through election day, November 3 and still be eligible to vote.
