Man Killed In Accident With Freight Train Identified

We now know the name of the man who was killed when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a freight train at 10th and Jefferson Sunday.

An autopsy showed Calvin L. Young died from multiple blunt force injuries when the crossover-type vehicle he was driving was struck by a northbound Norfolk-Southern train. The 42-year-old was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday evening.

Springfield police are waiting on video footage from Norfolk-Southern from the freight train's forward-facing camera as the accident remains under investigation.
