Road Work On I-55 between Lake Springfield And Glenarm Slated To Begin This Week

If your morning commute involves driving on I-55 between Glenarm and Lake Springfield, you may experience a few delays in the coming months.

IDOT will start preliminary work resurfacing the nearly 5 mile stretch of road, as well as repairing and replacing shoulders, guardrails, ramps, and bridges on Monday, July 20.

Most of the work will be don in the overnight hours, so the impact to traffic should be minimal. However, when the project fully engages in August, lane closures are expected.

According to the SJR, the $15+ million project is expected to be completed by December.
