An investigation is continuing after a man attempted to rob the Hy-Vee store on MacArthur Boulevard Tuesday morning.

The unidentified man demanded money from a cashier and then fled the scene on foot. At some point, the man obtained a car and then crashed it into a house near Outer Park Drive. It is unclear at this time who the vehicle belonged to.

SPD Lt. Jason Brands told the SJR even though the suspect did not sustain any injuries in the crash, he requested to be taken to Memorial Medical Center for another, unrelated medical condition.

Charges are pending, and the suspect is now in custody in the Sangamon County Jail.
