Second Body Recovered From Illinois River At Beardstown

It is a tragic end to a story that started Thursday night.

The body of a 15-year-old boy discovered at approximately 9:3 Saturday morning on the Cass County side of the Illinois River at Beardstown. The young man had disappeared two days earlier with a 12-year-old. That boy’s body was discovered on Friday.

In a news release the Beardstown Fire Chief, Brian Becker said “Words can simply not express the sadness our community feels at the loss of these two young people, and our most sincere sympathies are extended to the members of their families,”

The names of the two boys have not been released pending notification of family.
